 Was toenail removal necessary?

My toenails looked OK, but one of my big toes had a feint bluish blemish the size of a pencil eraser in the middle. I didn't know how long I'd had it because I usually wear nail polish, but this year I haven't used it. I noticed the blemish several months ago. Thinking it may be cancerous, I visited my podiatrist three days ago. He cut the nail and scraped really deep, of course it hurt. He told me it was fungus and was difficult to treat. I asked him the best treatment, he said to remove my nail. I've been going to my podiatrist for many years, I trusted his opinion, and had it removed right away. after researching the Internet, I cannot help but think the treatment may have been a bit drastic. There's a place in Texas where laser treatment can be used. one treatment does the job, with no pain or aftercare. My toe still hurts and I'm too afraid to go out because it may be too painful. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

You should try laser treatment to remove the fungus in your toes. You cannot feel any pain while having the treatment. You should ask your podiatrist about laser treatment before removing your nail. I bet she/he know about this. Details can be found here http://thetoenailfunguscure.com/toenail-fungus-remedy/laser-treatment-for-toenail-fungus
