My toe nail is thick and yellowish. I went to the doctor and got a prescription but it cost too much. Doc said to use Vicks. i've been using it for about 8 months but it dosent seem to be helping. anyone know anything else to use?
Most treatments are either systemic antifungal medications such as terbinafine and itraconazole, or topical such as nail paints containing ciclopirox or amorolfine. there is also evidence for combining systemic and topical treatments.
I am NOT sure about this but if I remember correctly places like Walmart sell anti-fungal tinctures without a prescription. Walmart normally has a whole aisle where they sell products for the feet (of course). I think I saw this tincture (a liquid in a small bottle) once. So, good luck!
Also, fungus thrive in warm and moist areas. So, after your showers make sure you thoroughly dry your feet and use only cotton socks because–unlike synthetic materials–cotton absorbs the sweat that we normally produce during the day and does not leave your feet moist and susceptible to further infection.
